The Welsh miner Griffith Griffith established a granite quarry, followed by settlers who planted palms as sentinels guarding our roads and luscious mandarin orange groves decorating our hills.

Given the arrival of families with children, Penryn leaders pulled together in 1862, to open our school at a time the nation was tearing itself apart in the Civil War.

One hundred and forty three years later, the nation as well as Penryn Elementary School have survived and grown. As of July 1, 2005 , our beloved Penryn Elementary School has grown into the fifth school of the Loomis Union School District by an action of the electorate.

Nevertheless, our school this year continues to serve in its accustomed way 240 students currently enrolled in kindergarten through the eighth grades.

Penryn has always been rich in community support, especially the Parent Teacher Club (PTC), who plans fundraisers, events and goodwill for the benefit of our school’s staff and its students.

It has long been our standing vision that Penryn Elementary School , supported by community and staff, will provide a safe learning environment which challenges students to achieve academic excellence, develop their creative potential and grow into responsible citizens.

We believe our entire community is committed to the education of its children.  And to borrow from a Native American: “Tell me and I will forget.  Show me, and I may not remember.  Involve me, and I will understand.”

Welcome to Penryn School…

Del Oro High School is located off of Taylor Rd.  With a community built on the belief, "A small town is like a big family" many of the events in loomis are centered around the high school.

Del oro was founded in 1958 and currently has about 1530 students.  The positive experience of Del Oro has encouraged many former students to return as staff.  The incredible and supportive environment of Del Oro has encouraged some of the best instructors available to choose Del Oro as the place to make their career.  A fabulous school with wonderful, caring, community originated young people!
