LOOMIS, CA. "A SMALL TOWN IS LIKE A BIG FAMILY"

Welcome to the beautiful Loomis Basin, one of the best places to live and visit in the State of California!  Nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Loomis, Penryn and Newcastle offer a lifestyle reminiscent of a friendly old fashioned community.  Loomis and the surrounding area have been able to maintain its rural atmosphere and keep growth to a minimum.

In March of 2007, Loomis was named as one of the "10 Great Neighborhoods", to live, in the Sacramento magazine.  Go to www.sacmag.com and read the article on page 176 and 177 of the March 2007 issue.  We were all proud to be named as one of the top ten!

The Town of Loomis was established in 1850 and incorporated in 1984.  Loomis was named after James Oscar Loomis, postmaster and saloon-keeper of the 1860's and 1870's.  Loomis acquired it's "roots" as a well known farming community, when orchards, packing sheds and roadside fruit stands dotted old Highway 40.  Today you can still celebrate that old fashioned neighborhood feeling, with folks from all across the county, at the Loomis Eggplant Festival, held each October.

For those who are looking for an alternative to the conventional subdivision and tract homes, Loomis is a wonderful place to call home.  Loomis has the best of both worlds, being immediately adjacent to Interstate 80 and between concentrated development and vast tracts of open space.  Citizens can choose to participate in the hot job market, shop at a variety of businesses located in and around Loomis, or spend a quiet and serene afternoon in the countryside.  Loomis is close to diverse recreational opportunities, located just 10 minutes from Folsom Lake and a little over an hour away from either Lake Tahoe or the San Francisco Bay.

Visit Emma's Bed & Breakfast or The Old Flower Farm Inn for exceptional service and nostalgic atmosphere.  How about a day of golf?  Loomis has the quaint Indian Creek Gold Course also.  If you're into some serious shopping, the Galleria Mall is 15 minutes away in Roseville.  Loomis is just 30 minutes away from Sacramento International Airport and downtown Sacramento, depending on traffic.

If you are looking for quality schools, Loomis has some of the best!  Loomis Union School District includes Del Oro High School (part of Placer Union High School), H. Clarke Powers Elementary (K-8), Franklin Elementary, Loomis Grammar, Penryn Elementary and Placer Elementary.  In addition to public schools there are many fine private schools.

Loomis and Placer County is, we feel,  closer to nature, surrounds you with history and gives you the opportunity to explore the lifestyle of country living with big city convenience.
